Vanilla Frosting

I just love basic vanilla frosting. It is easy to make and always tastes great. Vanilla frosting seems to be perfect for any cupcake or cake.


4oz (125g) butter, softened
1 cup confectioners (icing) sugar, sifted
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tbsp. milk

Beat the butter in a small bowl of an electric mixer until pale in color (about 6 minutes).

Add the sugar, extract and milk and beat for a further 10-12 minutes.

I taste-test after about 10 minutes to make sure that the frosting no longer tastes "gritty" as the confectioners sugar needs to fully dissolve.

This frosting is perfect for piping onto cupcakes or cakes.
