Hey Cupcake!

by Courtney
(Sherwood Park, Alberta Canada)

Hey Cupcake! is located in Sherwood Park Alberta Canada.

My favorite is the "Ghostbuster" Super moist chocolate cupcake filled with a marshmallow filling and topped with chocolate ganache.

It is such a cute, friendly place to hang out and have a coffee and a cupcake.

Moncler NEW
by: Anonymous

If your anorak is a actual cheap Moncler aphotic adumbration of amber that is about black, accept a atramentous shirt to abrasion beneath it, or even a aphotic gray. About any blush will go able-bodied with a aphotic amber anorak because it is so abutting to black. Accept the colors depending on what division it is. For example, abrasion a red shirt with your aphotic amber anorak to reflect the colors of the alteration leaves and the accepted feel of the season. If you are accessory a actual academic occasion, abrasion a brittle white shirt. A average amber anorak is a little harder to alike with. Abrasion a shirt beneath it that is either a altered adumbration of brown, white or a aloof color. It is a bargain cheap Moncler jackets aperture that offers the best prices for coats and jackets.

I'm not the only one
by: Anonymous

Im glad I'm not alone on this. Place was cute. Customer service poor each time, and I believe it was the owner we we're assisted by once and the other teo times by some young clueless girl. The presumed owner had a lot attidede. Cake was dry, crumbly and lacked flavor. Cream cheese icing was amazing!

NOT the place for cupcakes
by: Anonymous

Well, I've been back several times hoping to get better, but to no avail. Even at 11:00 am, there were just a few boring selections to choose from. They may have more in the back, but of the same flavours. Same dried out, not fresh tasting cupcakes with huge globs of icing at almost $4 a cupcake.

No, thanks. Too easy to bake (better, too) them at home and much cheaper. Just can't believe the number of people raving about their cupcakes.

5 out of 5
by: Anonymous

We all loved it!

For my husbands birthday, we each picked a fancy cupcake at Hey Cupcake. We tried Plain Jane, Ghostbuster, Cookies n' Cream, and Red Velvet. One of cupcakes was iced just when I got there. The icing has the ability to 'dry', so it has a very delicate crust and the inside is super moist.
The cupcake itself has a freshly baked crust. You can tell they have not been sitting in a container all day. Once you bite into the cake it is also super moist. For freshness we all rated our cupcakes a '10'.
I do not understand the other review of this bakery. It was a truly fresh and memorable cupcake. I would encourage everyone to try it as they are much fancier and tastier than grocery store quality.
I have also used them for a corporate event, again excellent product

TOO DRY!!!
by: Anonymous

2nd time buying 6 cupcakes, way to dry. And all you can taste was the heavy icing. I will not buy again from this cupcake bakery. I think they were frozen,.

When I came in that morning I thought that they were a little over done but were going to be ok, but have heard from a few upset customers. As you baker's out there know, a minute can make all the difference. I hope those of you who had a bad one know that we make amazing cupcake and will come back for many more!

Tried again...
by: Mmmm

After a not great experience in the summer at HEY CUPCAKE, I decided to give them another chance. Ordered the lemon and red velvet. Again, same experience, dry and heavy cake, too much icing, smelled and tasted like lard. We also received a box from a customer at our business at Christmas (12 cupcakes, variety) and again the same issue. Not one person in our office found them appealing and were like hockey pucks! Needless to say, they were still not eaten a week later. I would say they have a more muffin like texture. Not sure how many more chances to give this place. Flirt on Whyte Ave is the place to go, never a bad cupcake there...ever!

cupcakes for Christma
by: bobbi

I went into the store to get four cupcakes for a special Christmas dinner. I choose four differant kinds. Everyone of them were dry and crumbled as soon as we put a fork into them. I will not buy from them again. it was a an expensive way to buy icing....because that was the only thing that we could eat.

Review
by: Anonymous

Pros:
1. Clean and well-organized store - product on hand - if not, had available in back bakery.
Cons:
1. Staff member not friendly and didn't quite get the order correct. We were only customers.
2. Cake portion very dry

There's enough comments listed regarding staff lack of friendliness and dry product. Perhaps owner(s) should review these specific items.

As a relatively new business, efforts should be made by the owner(s) not just on ensuring product meets your quality control standards, but that your staff isn't turning away your customers with their lack of customer service skills.

Not that impressed - but kids will like them
by: Anonymous

I bought a red velvet cupcake (because there wasn't much left when we went) for my daughter this summer and she loved it - I think because of the icing/sugar as we ended up tossing more than half the cupcake after the icing was gone. I am not a fan of icing and I wasn't happy with the cupcake. It actually reminded me of freezer burn. However, I would be back occasionally for my kid since she thinks they're so cool. I don't want to sound like a snob, but I love baking and find it pretty easy to bake at home. So, based on my sampling of this cupcake, it's hard to find so many people ranting and raving about the taste. However, I do find their presentation very scrumptious-looking and tempting, and also love how individual cupcakes are packaged in a gift box.

If they offer birthday (baking) parties for kids, I'd book one for mine. I think kids would love the experience - and the sugar high!

OMG soooo good!
by: Anonymous

These are by far the best cupcakes in and around Edmonton! I do not in any way find these cupcakes dry.... maybe this last person got a bad batch but I'm doubting 6 different flavors were dry! I find the staff there to be super friendly too. I don't care what anyone says I will be back again and again, good job Hey Cupcake!

Have Had Better...
by: Anonymous

I have to say, I have tried all the Cupcake shops in Edmonton and Area and these were by far the worst I have ever had. The cake was very dry and the mountains of icing too much! They smelled like they were made from margerine and had tried six kinds. They were all the same. The staff was very rude and seemed like I was an inconvience to them. Will not be back.

A very quiet evening pop in to purchase a sweet treat. The staff are not very friendly, it was like pulling teeth to provide info. about the cupcakes. Sorry the cupcake icing was not great, I have had a lot better, from Farmers Markets. First and last visit

OMG - soooo good!
by: NOM NOM NOM

I'm writing this as I lick the chocolately goodness off my mouth. I just devoured a "Men are from Mars" cupcake and it was just the decadent treat I needed to get through the afternoon.
Bright, clean surroundings, pleasant staff, and a wonderful selection of innovative recipes...we've been in several times and will definitely keep coming back!

Give them a chance
by: Anonymous

In the food industry product is not something that keeps from day to day, just about every cupcake store in the greater edmonton area has low or no stock by the end of the day so people need to quit complaining about poor selection. If you know you are going to want cupcakes from hey cupcake either pre order them ahead of time or call first thing in the morning and have them set aside for you to guarantee you get what you want (I do this on a regular basis). As for the organization its a new business, having been through the process myself it can take up to a year to get the major kinks worked out (eg. pamphlets, pictures, concept books, signage, etc.) It take time to figure out what you need and how that need needs to be met.
Patience people, this is a new local business, give them a chance.

Need to organize a little better.
by: Anonymous

I went in to order a cupcake birthday cake and none of the staff could help me, they couldn't tell me styles that they did. They had no pictures, no concepts, nothing. Basically they said they could put some cupcakes together and frost it any color I wanted. Not exactly inspiring. So okay, how much is this cupcake cake - well no one could tell me. So they couldn'te tell me what kind of cakes they make, or the cost of the cake. They didn't know how many cupcakes are usually in the cake - nothing. BUT they advertise that they make cakes.

I'm not trying to be rude, just point out that they should probably get a price list, and maybe make some display cakes to take pictures of and create a portfolio book. The whole cupcake store concept is great, it got me in there, didn't it? Just some organization would help.

everyone entitled to an opinion....
by: Anonymous

afterall that is what this whole page is about opinions wether someone has a negative or a positive and people should not be condemned for either, i had a bad expierience more then once with hey cupcake...and that is my opinion...unfreindly staff is a turn off. i dont want to go somewhere where i dont feel welcome and thats a fact. and as for the supply and demand...i think there has been a significant amount of time to judge that by now.
and that again is MY OPINION. no one will ever be able to please everyone.

Not Impressed
by: Anonymous

I picked up 6 cupcakes yesterday.

When I got them home and took them out of the box they were STALE! We are talking rock hard here, like hockey pucks. The icing on top was rock hard as well.

I did taste the icing and the cupcakes even though they were stale and hard and was not impressed. The icing was terribly sweet and the cupcakes were something I could make myself at home with a Betty Crocker mix. It was most certainly not worth the $17.80 for 6 cupcakes.

I will not be returning.

People need to think before the comment
by: Anonymous

1st thing The place is great and so is the product.

Secondly people really need to stop and think about things b4 they start spouting off negative comments. Like the business or dont like them but to blanket condem something over 1 exp shows the immaturity and quite frankly the near sighted stupidity that is rampent in the world today.

For all the business genius's out there, try setting up a operation like the one these people have done. If you missjudge demand and make to much you waste money and for a new business THAT is bad thing. They have since gotten a handle on the demand.

I to was disappionted by not being able to get some cupcakes but unlike some of the posters I acted like a MATURE adult and came back another time. This will probably never be seen by the negative people and that is thier loss but for others seeing this Hey cupcake makes great cupcakes. keep up the good work.

Finally - Cupcakes in Sherwood Park!
by: Anonymous

No matter what, there's always going to be impossible to please people out there but don't worry, you'll have more business than you can handle anyway - and that's always a good thing when you're in business for yourself! It's about time Sherwood Park got in on the cupcake craze - how about fancy, custom decorated cakes and cookies?? Haven't tried your cupcakes yet, but I look forward to it!

Very Good!
by: Corinne

I have gone to Hey Cupcake pretty well once a week since they opened. I think the product is fantastic! I especially love the Salt n Peppa- Oreo, Bubsy - caramel brownie, and Southern Belle.
Yes - I have encountered low stock, but since it is a new business, they wouldn't know what the demand would be.
I have noticed that in the past couple of weeks, there is plenty of stock available in store. I have also ordered ahead, which was great.

I would rather they sell out, instead of throwing away a bunch of food at the end of every day!

Thank you!
by: Courtney

Thank you too all of you who understand that starting a new business is always a challenge. I understand the frustration with the "sign" thing, but would you rather I just shut off the lights and closed for the day? There are other cupcakes store that only do one bake a day and when they are gone they are gone. I hope you all can make it in one day as we now have more staff and are able to make more cupcakes than we could the first couple weeks. Thanks again for supporting us!!!

Rude and Unorganized
by: Anonymous

I have never been to a bakery that didnt know whether they were coming or going. Was told to come back as they were out, come back three hours later and only two kinds had been made. It was early afternoon! The staff looks tired and act as if they could care less about my business. i will never recommend them

Delicious
by: Anonymous

These cupcakes are to die for!!I visit Hey Cupcake a few times a week and everyone at my office loves when I bring them in for a treat! During the first few weeks in which it was open I think people need to be a little more understanding as to how hard the staff is working there. They're baking 600 cupcakes or more a day I was told!!! I know the staff at Hey Cupcake are trying their hardest and they will never loss my business! Great job it's about time Sherwood Park had Hey Cupcake! Delicious product!

Awesome Cupcake
by: Anonymous

I was very impressed with the selection of cupcakes available. They bake all the cupcakes fresh everyday. I took 12 into the office and my co-workers were very impressed. I placed a special order to have 20 Mars Bar cupcakes made for my son's birthday party on Saturday.

dry!
by: Anonymous

I went in with my son for a treat and to check out the new place. The man was soo unfriendly and i didn't even get a smile until the girl probably the owner came out. No choclate? sold out... we decided to share a white because the cupcakes are massive(good if your trying to gain weight) and not to many people out there are. Anyway the cupcake was ok..too much dry cake but the icing was lovley. It would be nice if they sold mini ones!

hmmmmm
by: nora

i have definatly encountered "the sign" and was relatively unimpressed. however i did go back and had a "COO COO for COCOA" i was rather hoping it would be worth the wait and worth coming back for, in order to erase the bad taste in my mouth from "the sign" but i have to say i found it rather dry and unimpressive. Something i feel i could have made at home, and may have even made perhaps a little better. definatly not worth the 2.95 plus tax.I myself will not go back ill just spend a few dollars and make them at home.

Am I lucky today?
by: Anonymous

OK, We have encountered "The Sign" before. I am hoping that today will be different. We are going to get some for company. I have to say I am apprehensive to schedule a trip. Let's hope we're lucky!

I've tried twice now. BOTH times - sold out. Really??? You didn't see that coming? I was really looking forward to trying them out.

Business
by: Anonymous

I too was disappointed when I ran into the "We're baking" sign. My statement is simple. Plan. Not the consumers, sometimes consumers just driving on Baseline will think..."hmmm Cupcakes. Sounds good" (It shouldn't matter whether it's Mother's Day, a birthday, or just a plan day) Only to face a sign instructing them to come back. It's funny, I've never ran into that kind of sign at another establishment. Yes, I know bakeries in general can run out. However, when your whole menu which only consists of a sole item and that sole item is depleted, it tells the consumer something. It told me that it was poor business planning. If you want to stay in business, make more cupcakes. If you're running out, it means people like them... make more. Otherwise your business will not grow. And in today's market, can you take that risk?

I look forward to having a cupcake oneday. I just hope the next time I decide to stop for some, that I don't encounter that sign.

BEST CUPCAKES IN SHERWOOD PARK
by: Anonymous

In all fairness to Hey Cupcake, I think you're doing great. WHO waits until the day to gather cupcakes for Mother's Day? Plan ahead. This business prides itself in customer service and has a phone number you can call to order ahead. Like you said, Snooze you Lose! It won't be their loss, it will be yours for having missed out on the best cupcakes around.
HEY CUPCAKE, keep up the great work. I'm so excited for your new business and hold it dear to my heart that a mother would start this after having had it her dream for a long time. Cheers to all of you over there baking up goodness. I can't wait to run down there today after school to pick up some more dessert for my family of 5. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
And, P.S. good for you for selling out!!! That means you're doing something right :)

We were very disappointed when on Mother's Day we went to pick up some cupcakes for my Mother in law and the sign said.. come back, we are baking more!
My husband and I were turned off from ever coming back. What kind of business sends you away and asks you to come back. I'm sorry, but in today's busy world, you snooze you lose! Hey, Cupcake lost our business. We'll go somewhere else, thank-you.

BAKING: COME BACK AT 3pm???
by: Anonymous

My mom and I went out of our way to check out HEY CUPCAKE (early Mother's day celebration) in Sherwood Park today (Friday May 7th), imagine our disappointment when we arrived at 1pm, only to see a sign tacked up that said to come back at 3 pm. You have got to be kidding. That is NO way to run a business, I doubt I will be back.
