Glace Frosting

This glace frosting, or glace icing, really is very quick and easy to make. It is a very basic frosting that can be adapted to suit just about any type of cupcake.

1. Sift the icing sugar into a bowl and add the butter and hot water.

2. Mix until smooth.

3. Spread the frosting over the cupcakes.

Variations:
Chocolate: Sift one tablespoon cocoa powder into icing sugar.

Vanilla: Replace boiling water with milk and add a couple of drops of vanilla essence.

Lemon or Orange:Replace boiling water with lemon/orange juice.

Passionfruit: Replace boiling water with passionfruit pulp and 1 tspn lemon juice.

Coffee: Dissolve one teaspoon of instant coffee granules into the boiling water.

Mocha: Sift 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder into icing sugar and dissolve one teaspoon of instant coffee granules into the boiling water.

Colored frosting: Add food colouring to basic recipe to achieve your desired result.
