Chicken and Carrot Pupcakes

Chicken and Carrot Pupcakes - ideal if your pet has more of a savory tooth!

....I know, I know, our dogs tend to eat everything. But there just might be some fussy eaters out there! This recipe for homemade dog treats is for them.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup softened margarine
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup corn oil
  • 2 jars strained chicken baby food
  • 2 cups grated carrot

Preparation:

  • Preheat oven to 325F (160C).
  • Combine flour and baking powder.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat softened margarine until smooth.
  • Add eggs and oil and mix well.
  • Add strained chicken, and grated carrot and mix until smooth.
  • Add flour mixture and mix thoroughly.
  • Spoon into cupcake tins, lined with cupcake papers.
  • Bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center come out clean.

Pupcake frosting

  • Plain or vanilla yogurt
  • 2 or 3 strips of bacon, fried and crumbled (or use bacon-flavored jerky, cut into bits)

Frost chicken and carrot pup cakes with yogurt and sprinkle with crumbled bacon.

Once frosted, any leftover pupcakes need to be kept refrigerated.
