Buttercream Frosting Recipe

This buttercream frosting recipe makes up a creamy and delicious frosting. It is the perfect icing for decorating borders and making flowers like the rose or sweet pea.

The best thing about buttercream is that it can be made of stiff, thin, or medium consistency, as per your requirement.

Buttercream can be spread or piped onto cakes and cupcakes. It is my favourite frosting because it is so versatile.

1 ½ cups butter
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons flavors (colorless)
2 pounds of confectioner’s (icing) sugar
¼ to ½ cup of water or milk

Combine butter, flavorings, and salt and beat thoroughly for approx 2-3 minutes.

Slowly add the confectioners sugar, approx 1 tablespoon at a time.

Add water or milk and gently mix all the ingredients until well blended.

Notes:
Try to keep the amount in exactly the same quantity as mentioned above. I would suggest limiting the flavorings and colorings to only one of each.

To make chocolate buttercream, add ¾ cup of cocoa powder mixed with one to two tablespoons of milk, to the other ingredients and proceed to mix well.

Thanks so much for sending in your buttercream frosting recipe.

I agree butter-cream is so versatile as it can be flavored and/or colored to suit any cake or cupcake. It can also be made thick or thin and be piped or spread.

Regards
