Brownie Frosting Recipe

I use this browie frosting recipe for cupcakes, cake and brownies. My mom has always called it the brownie frosting recipe and I continue to call it that even though it is suitable for more than just brownies.


6 tablespoons milk
3oz (85g) softened butter
1-1/2 cups white sugar
1 cup chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Put milk, butter and sugar in a small saucepan and bring to the boil.

Boil for 30 seconds, stirring continuously, and then remove from the heat.

Add the chocolate and vanilla and stir until the chocolate has melted.

Allow to cool before using as frosting for cupcakes or cakes. If using for brownies, pour warm frosting over brownies as soon as they are taken from the oven.

Thanks very much for sending in your brownie frosting recipe.

I have a few similar recipes that I still call by the name I grew up calling them but the recipe has now changed and used differently!!

If this frosting sets nicely it could also be used as a chocolate filling in cakes and cupcakes.
